My SBC Journey: Janet

20th August 2020 SBC & Me

janet

When were you diagnosed with SBC?
I was originally diagnosed in May 2003. Stage 1 grade 1. Lumpectomy chemo radiotherapy and tamoxofin.
Fast forward 13 years 2016 and a reoccurrence was found on annual mammogram. Had a pet scan and a spot was found on my hip.
What has been your treatment Journey?
Originally, I had an op for the reoccurrence and started on Letzerole and monthly injections of densonab. I was put forward for SABR on my hip and that happened Dec 16.
I was being treated at my local hospital but in Dec 17 I was asked if I wanted to add Palbo that had just been approved by Nice.
I spent most of 2018 going back to the hospital every 2 weeks as wbc always too low. Finally dose lowered to 75mg in November 2018 and been fine since then. In May 2019 was changed to 3 monthly appoitments. Having densonab 3 monthly as well.
I've also been having PET scans every 3/4 months. And I’m very grateful that since the PET scan in early 2017 showed NEAD I have been lucky to stay that way. My last scan was early March.
I think I have had amazing treatment and up until now I have been very grateful.
Besides a few side effects from the medication I’m really well and live a very normal life which I’m eternally grateful for.
