Using electronic health records to study metastatic breast cancer

My name is Mel de Lange and I am a researcher at the University of Bristol. My job is to study health data from GP practices, hospitals and cancer records to help improve healthcare. After my sister was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2016 I retrained in health research and now want to do research that will help metastatic breast cancer patients. Your feedback on my research ideas will help ensure future studies focus on the issues that matter most to people living with metastatic breast cancer.

What do you think about treatment breaks for patients living with breast cancer?

We would like to hear from people who are living with life-limiting breast cancer, to understand your feelings about continuous treatment and the possibility of treatment breaks.
❔Would you feel worried about being off treatment?
❔Would you like the opportunity to have time off treatment and away from the hospital?
❔Would you be reassured if you could be monitored in some way during the treatment break?

My Life, My Way

Our Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign for October 2026 is called: My Life, My Way.
Our campaign will celebrate the stories of how life continues beyond a secondary (metastatic) breast cancer diagnosis - in own terms and in ways that change over time.
In order to understand what it means to 'live well' with secondary breast cancer, we'd really appreciate you completing our questionnaire so that we can understand the many different viewpoints.
