What was your experience of the period just prior to your lumpectomy? Was everything explained to you about the type of procedure, options available and what to expect from recovery?

Aesthetic flat closure after mastectomy is contouring of the chest wall after mastectomy without traditional breast reconstruction. Aesthetic flat closure is the surgical work required to produce a smooth flat chest wall contour after the removal of one or both breasts.

Karen Henderson Legacy Fund and ‘The 500 mile challenge’ launch in aid of Make 2nds Count The Karen Henderson Legacy Fund and the first fundraising challenge, in aid of Make 2nds Count, will be officially launching on 2 May at The Restoration Yard. The event will be hosted by one of Karen’s favourite entertainers, Grant Stott, and will bring together family and friends in a small celebration of Karen’s life.

In the fourth blog of our partnership with Make2ndsCount, we want to share reliable information surrounding the science behind Triple Negative secondary Breast Cancer (TNBC), as well as current and future treatments available. Nearly a third of people diagnosed with earlier stages of breast cancer will develop advanced disease1,2.

Breast conserving surgery is treatment to remove an area of cancer from the breast. This type of surgery is also called a wide local excision or lumpectomy.

Hi, my name is Fiona Gray, I am a 59 year old music teacher living in the Scottish Borders. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and then secondary breast cancer in the bowel in 2017.

What was your experience of the period just prior to your oophorectomy? Was everything explained to you about the type of procedure, options available and what to expect from recovery?

An Oophorectomy is a surgical procedure to remove one or both of your ovaries. Your ovaries sit on each side of the uterus in your pelvis.
