'Patient Trial Advocate' (PTA) Service by Make 2nds Count
make2ndscount.co.ukMake 2nds Count Patient Trial Advocate (PTA) Service
The PTA service is here to help secondary breast cancer patients potentially find a clinical trial and to support them through the clinical trial process.
Finding the right information about available clinical trials and understanding the associated complex information is a challenge for all secondary breast cancer patients.
The PTA is ran by senior research nurses with experience in secondary breast cancer and clinical trials.
If you are a patient living in the UK with metastatic breast cancer and interested in seeking advice about a clinical trial, please complete the referral form on the PTA section of the M2C website and book a slot to speak with a member of the team.

Macmillan Support Services
North Shields / northumbria.nhs.uk
Macmillan Support Services include an Information and Support service, a Befriending Service and offer Bereavement support to people by any cause of death. All services are accessible to adults affected by cancer or a life limiting illness, including carer’s living in North Tyneside. Anyone may contact the service for information. We also provide a range of groups and events. These include a Drop In, Health and Wellbeing sessions, Living well with Cancer course, HOPE course, Walk and Talk groups and Craft Groups. For Befriending or Bereavement Support a referral from a health professional is required. On receipt of the referral a member of the team will visit the person within their own home. They will then identify the most appropriate support based on their individual needs at the time of the visit. Each person who would benefit from someone to talk to on a one to one basis will be allocated an appropriately trained and supervised volunteer. Volunteers offer a supportive, confidential and non-judgmental relationship, which can assist the person through a difficult time.

Shine Cancer Support
Shine Cancer Support is a network of young adults living with any type of cancer diagnosis. We know that there is never a good time to have cancer, but younger adults face different issues than their older or younger counterparts - and many of these are not dealt with by traditional cancer support charities and services. Our vision is that every adult in the UK living with cancer in their 20s, 30s or 40s can access the help and support that they need in a way that suits their lifestyle, and that they are a part of a confident, supportive and empowered community of young adults living with cancer.
Our mission is to provide tailored information and peer support for anyone in their 20s, 30s or 40s diagnosed with any cancer. We do this through a range of activities including lunches and drinks evenings, beach walks, multi-day getaways, workshops, online networking, and mentoring.
