We provide free and confidential information and support to patients, relatives, carers, staff and members of the public. We offer access to an extensive range of information and support resources on cancer and can help with emotional support and links to national and local support groups. The centre also provides information on healthy lifestyles, health conditions, screening, health promotion and related issues such as how to access benefits advice, support groups, counselling services and carers information. The information is available in a range of formats including leaflets, booklets, audio and Braille. Some resources are also available in Welsh and other languages.

The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service in Hywel Dda Health Board are having to work differently during the Covid-19 outbreak and have moved all of their support to the telephone and can also offer video calls by appointment. They are able to chat with you about your cancer related questions as well as help with any concerns or advice you might need about keeping yourself safe during these challenging times. In addition to the much-needed listening ear, the team provide information and signposting to other services such as Macmillan Welfare Benefits Advice or can link people up with support in the local community. This includes help from your local authority community hubs who have been busy connecting with teams of volunteers and organizations to help with delivering essentials like groceries & prescriptions and helping with services such as dog walking or simply checking in to chat. Coronavirus is having a huge impact on people living with cancer and during this time it’s important to take care of your emotional and mental well-being as well as your physical health. The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service have details on new support services, as well as sharing tips and online links to help promote self-care and emotional wellbeing.
