The Macmillan Welfare Rights Service provides advice and information on welfare benefits and entitlements to people affected by cancer living in the Bath & North East Somerset area and/or being treated at the RUH or Dorothy House. We provide a free and confidential specialist Welfare Rights service to people living with cancer and to their families. We can advise on a range of issues including benefits and income maximisation and assist with any other related issues you may have, such as housing, debt and employment. Our aim is to strive to ensure that people affected by cancer receive the support and help they need.

Advice is provided on all benefits entitlement. Delivery of the service is by a phone appointment. In person appointments will resume at a later date. Referrals to the service are made by Macmillan Cancer Support workers and other health professionals. Self referrals, from the person with cancer, can be taken over the phone.

Macmillan Benefits Adviser based in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. Provides benefits and financial advice, help with form completion and accessing grants to patients and carers, either face to face in the centre, on wards or at outpatient clinics. Also provides a telephone service to both patients and carers as well as community Macmillan nurses, social workers and other non statutory organisations.

Our Macmillan team provide an advice service for people affected by cancer. If you or someone close to you has been diagnosed with cancer, money might not be one of the first things you think about. But having cancer can be expensive. Your income may go down and your expenses may go up. If you are struggling to cope with the financial impact of cancer, remember that there is help available. We offer a free, confidential advice service to people living with cancer, their carers and relatives. Ask your Macmillan or specialist nurse to make a referral to us.
